Blonde Redhead are doing a handful of Bay Area dates this week while in the midst of a world tour to support their latest release, Penny Sparkle, and what better way to celebrate this country’s independence than a sold-out show last night at The Independent?!
The Fillmore rolls out the red carpet this week for its annual jazz festival, and the timing couldn’t be better. San Francisco is on the verge of jazz renaissance, and the neighborhood that once hosted legendary musicians like Charlie Parker and Billie Holiday is still home to San Francisco’s musical soul.
Bay Area DJ Bass Cadet received his first taste of electronic music when someone handed him a CD titled “Freak Beats for Beat Freaks” by Lorin (now better known as Bassnectar). This CD changed his musical outlook, which had then consisted of only playing lead guitar in bands, and sent him running to the nearest store for turntables, a mixer and headphones.
Mashpot and Audyssey’s “The Neighborhood” come together on July 6th to support the Bay Area music and arts scenes. It’s is the second official Mashpot event, which focuses on bringing together members of the arts and music scenes in a collaborative multimedia setting, and the latest in Audyssey’s series.
