Slim’s Temporarily Shut Down by the ABC
Last week Slim’s, a popular music venue on 11th between Folsom and Harrison, was shut down for ten days by the State Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (the ABC). Despite the obvious conclusion that this had something to do with serving alcohol to minors, Amoeba.com reports that it was actually closed because of a noise complaint made by a neighbor.
New Video and Album: Maniac
The indie pop duo Maniac released their newest album Mania (on vinyl) today and to compliment their music the band also unveiled an unconventional music video for the single “3 Kings Day.” Co-frontmen Shawn Harris and Jake Grigg recorded the video on two separate continents.

Yann Tiersen, forever the scrawny French accordionist in my mind, played at the Regency Ballroom on Tuesday night and I couldn’t have been more surprised by what I saw. No longer the unassuming solo virtuosic performer, Tiersen has grown into the frontman of a full on rock band.
